Greetings to all our members and friends, old and new! The mission of the Single Parent Resource Centre is to provide single parents, caregivers, and children opportunities for growth through our resources and services. SPRC was founded nearly thirty years ago by a wonderful woman named Madeleine Shields.
The Centre arose out of Shields' admiration for the strength and courage of single parents raising a family alone, and her desire to create a warm and welcoming place where all single parents could gather and find support. Over the years, the Centre has stayed true to its mission and has been a lifeline for so many single mothers and fathers. It has been a place where single parents have found practical information, encouragement, and the realization that they are not alone. It may interest you to know that we are one of only three organizations in Canada that is dedicated to serving the needs of single parents and their children.
