Become a Volunteer
If you would like to volunteer to help single parent families, we would welcome your support in the following areas:
Moms & Mentors: Contribute to a caring community by being a supportive friend to a single parent. Share good times while helping them build strength for challenges. A one year commitment of an average of four hours per week is required. The Moms & Mentors Program is generously sponsored by
Success By 6 and Telus Victoria Community Board.
For more information on this program, please contact Ann Tasko, Coordinator at AnnTasko@shaw.ca or (250) 721-5995.
Front Desk: Be the first person that our visitors or callers encounter. Your supportive listening and accurate referrals will create the sense of community that many say strengthens them the most when they visit the Centre. Twenty-five hours of training are offered over an eight week period for this position. A six month commitment to volunteer an average of half a day per week is requested.
Peer Helpers for Single Parents: This new initiative will train volunteers in basic peer helping skills to support single parents who face barriers to accessing parenting knowledge, resources and skills. Volunteers will receive training to provide one-on-one support to parents in clarifying and prioritizing issues, discovering their own internal and external resources, and connecting with community resources appropriate to their needs. Thirty-six hours of training are offered over a 12 week period. A six month commitment to volunteer an average of half a day per week is requested. This program is generously funded by The United Way of Greater Victoria. For full details, please CLICK HERE.
Clothing Room: Make a concrete difference to struggling parents by accepting, sorting and displaying the toys, clothes and bread donated daily. Every month, 450 families stretch their budgets by using our free clothing and bread rooms, operated only by volunteers.
Special Project Volunteers: Do you have a special skill or talent that you want to develop or share? Help with fundraising, our Board of Directors, seasonal event, deliveries, clerical tasks, etc.

“I have volunteered for the past seven years and have enjoyed helping other single parents. I also have received a lot of support from the staff and other volunteers."
